Vote for your favorite pose of Ian in his cute "Heaven Sent" outfit. It was one year ago tomorrow (8-31-08) that we rejoiced after two different pregnancy tests told us that God had worked a miracle. Ian is truly a gift from God!!

Big Boy Stroller Ride

We've recently made the transition from Ian's first stroller to this one. Ian can certainly hold his head steady now, so he enjoys looking forward on walks. Out little man still has some growing to do before he outgrows this one.

I'm Clean

Ian's hair right after a bath a few nights ago: clean as a whistle!!

My Muscles Are Tired

"The Bumbo seat helps me work on my core muscles (especially for sitting on my own in the near future), but I still get tired and need to lean on the sides occasionally."

Nice Hair!!

No...Ian did not encounter his first electrical outlet. He is just trying out some new options to see which hair style gets him the most compliments.

Date Night

The happy couple right before leaving for Carrabba's Italian Grill.
Gotta get a picture with the little man before Mommy and Daddy leave for dinner.
Grammy graciously offered to watch Ian on Friday night so Kim and I could enjoy going to Carrabba's for dinner. As you can see, Grammy and Ian had so much fun together, they even decided to work on some Macarena dance moves. Thanks for making the "date night" a reality, Grammy.

Video Time

Fun Times with Grammy

Ian enjoyed showing Grammy around the house during her stay in Houston.
Cooing is always easier after first hearing a demonstration.
"That's a good book, Grammy....please read it again."

Some New Things in the House

Kim and her mom did a great job of decorating the walls in the play/toy room. They even figured out an easy way to hang quilts on the wall.
Kim spent some time today (Saturday) scrapbooking Ian's third month highlights and accomplishments.
Spider mites got the better of the plants that used to sit here in our kitchen. Kim and her mom found some great deals on plants and coordinating pots to spruce up the window seat.

Onion Chopping 101

It is never too early to teach Ian the art of chopping onions. Random fact: babies cannot fully differentiate good smells from bad smells until they are two years old.

Picking His Head Up

Ian can really hold his head high while experiencing tummy time. Ian's favorite tummy time partner is the green quilt that Grandma Schleicher made for him (here displayed with a white burp rag to catch any spit-up Ian gets rid of).

Eye Contact--Sometimes Tough To Come By

Ellen and Grammy are working hard to maintain eye contact with Ian, but he seems more interested in the couch design.

Grammy Walquist Arrives

Kim and Ian drove to Hobby Airport on Monday to welcome Grammy to Houston.

Sunday Pics

Ian wore this cute hat and outfit to church today. Thanks Dave, Elizabeth, and Henry.

Already Thinking Occupations

Ian is sporting his red "Little Hero" firefighting shirt. It is fun to think about all the possible careers Ian might seriously consider someday.

Thanks, Jenn

Fun times!! Thanks for your creative eye and cool camera images, Jenn.

Before and After

We trimmed some of the hair closest to Ian's shirt collar the other night.

Ian at the Table

Well...actually it is Ian ON the table. Meal time is getting more and more fun each day.

Some New Things

Thanks, Paul and Kristy, for the suggestion to try the Bumbo chair at this stage of development. Because Ian can support his head with his strong neck muscles, he will really be able to work on strengthening those core muscles by sitting in this chair over the next few weeks. You also notice that Ian has recently started holding his hands together.

Thanks, Uncle Jon

Ian's first pair of shoes are Nike's. Gotta love shoes you can grow into. Thanks for the generous gift, Uncle Jon.

Who Snuck That Cowboy Hat in My Photo Shoot??

"I said posing with a bandanna would be fine, but the cowboy hat was not a part of the initial contract."

Wearing Hats Isn't All That It's Cracked Up To Be

This is Ian's sad face. Kim and I are biased, but we think that even his sad face is pretty cute.

Super Cute

Blue eyes...just like Momma.

Tummy Time is Better With 2 Ians

Ian enjoys looking at himself in the mirror when he is engaging in tummy time.

"Here Is My Foot"

"He has such big feet and long toes" is a comment we hear quite a bit these days. God is certainly enabling Ian to grow.

"I Love Listening to Books"

As he was cooing yesterday, Ian stated that he enjoys all of the books that Mommy and Daddy read as well as all of the songs they sing or play throughout the day. Daddy enjoyed explaining the art of sleeping in a "big kid" bed after reading the words on these pages.

These Jeans Make Me Feel STRONG

Before Jenn came over this week to take some cute pictures of Ian with her stellar camera, Kim and I got Ian warmed up with a few outfits and poses of our own. Here, Ian is attempting to flex his bulging muscles.

My Parents Are Going Nuts With This Blog

Psst...Ian here. Did you know that my parents have posted over 100 posts since they started this blog before I was born? Too much time on their hands, if I do say so myself.

Smiles Come More Often These Days

Hi, I'm Ian. Thanks for following our blog. Here is one of my small 12-week smiles.

Is That a Tasty Ice Cream Cone on Your Head, Mommy?

Nope...it is just a towel turban. Nevertheless, Daddy's betting that Ian's favorite ice cream flavor will be Rocky Road. Mommy thinks it will be bubble gum.

Ian is Hiding

Ian has a few things to learn about selecting Hide-&-Go-Seek hiding spots. Here, he has only successfully hidden his mouth and chin.

Time with Chris and Lauren

Lauren and Chris came over for dinner and board games on Thursday night. Mommy and Daddy look forward to teaching Ian "Blokus" and "MadGab"(the games of choice on Thursday).

Cooing Videos

Here is Ian's first squeal.

Cooing Videos

Listen for the part of the song where Mommy and Ian harmonize with one another.
