Only 6 weeks left (?)

The books say that Baby is now 5 pounds and is about 19 1/2 inches long. He/she sure makes a lot of commotion when turning and twisting around. It must be getting cramped inside there! :)

And now, even the crib is all set up!

Concordia ladies' shower

The ladies that Matt works with at Concordia Lutheran High School threw us a shower! The food was yummy and the decorations were beautiful. They displayed pictures of when both Matt and Kim were babies. What a creative touch!

While Kim was opening gifts, the ladies played "Present Bingo." Diane was the lucky first winner!

Kim was excited that her mom was in town for the shower, too.

The awesome hostesses of the shower ... Rory, Rita, Carrie, and Kristy.

"Grandma" Walquist's visit

Kim's mom came to Houston over our spring break. Before Matt left on his cruise (with many Lutheran HS principals & assistant principals from across the country), Mom and Matt started the process of fixing a screen in our house that was damaged during Hurricane Ike.

We just HAD to take Mom to see the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo! She especially liked the "Calf Wrestling" competition.

Mom helped with many "get ready for baby" jobs ... like sterlizing bottles & nipples, packing the diaper bag, shopping for last minute items, and packing the hospital bag.

She also helped to put the finishing touches on the nursery! Matt hung curtain rods, and Mom hung the valances.

Couples' Baby Shower

Our young marrieds' group from church threw us a couples' baby shower. Emily (holding baby Annie) and her husband Jeremy hosted. Emily also designed the creative "diaper cake" on the counter. Tasha (in pink) prepared the main courses ... spaghetti and tetrazzini. Yum!

While the girls chat, the boys take in some March Madness basketball ... or is Matt sleeping?? Notice the cute clothesline of baby clothes behind the boys.

Emily decorated with duckies and yellow flowers. She used baby bottles as the vases for most of the flowers. Clever!

Our friend Gennie designed a smell-the-baby-food-in-the-diaper game. Needless to say, Matt and I were the biggest losers, only correctly identifying the peas. Oh, well ... a year from now, we'll be seasoned veterans at baby food interpretation! :)

Our friends were very generous. Baby Schleicher got tons of new things, including some books and even a homemade quilt!

4/5 done, 1/5 to go!

The books say the baby is about 4 pounds now and gaining about 1/2 pound each week from now 'til the end!
