Fun in February

We (again!) saw a super fun project hanging in the hallway of the ECE where Ian has Sunday School. Ian was thrilled to cut out the circles, punch holes for snow, add a face, and glue everything down! Thanks for the great idea, Carrie!
Ryan started the month by just being able to pull up onto very short surfaces, like stools.

It has been fun to watch Ryan get more comfortable with pulling himself to a standing position throughout this month. Now, he can pull up on just about anything, as well as get himself back down to the floor!
Ryan loves to "cruise" along to wherever Big Brother is standing. Ian enjoys having "Little" hold onto him and will stand there patiently until Ryan moves.

It must mean that we're doing something wrong as gardeners, but all of our "fall garden" vegetables are just NOW getting ripe. We have some broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and peas growing. Ian gets very excited to pick things and wants to eat them immediately!

As it's warming up, the neighborhood park has been a favorite destination. Ian loves riding his tricycle all the way there. Both boys enjoy swinging the best.

Despite how his appearance in this picture, Ryan really likes going down the slide with Ian. One day, they slid together about 15 times in a row!

A few weeks ago, we went to Meyer Park to feed the ducks. Ian thought it was SO fun to have the ducks gather all around him.
Momma was a little freaked out by the (apparently tame) rodents called "nutria" that also wanted some of Ian's bread. Eek!

Ian absolutely LOVES all of the Daddy time he gets on weekends. He proudly calls himself Daddy's "little helper" and will cheerfully do just about anything Matt asks him to do. Here, he's helping Matt to set up a new computer desk.

Now that the weather is warm and Ryan is old enough, we've been able to resume our family tradition of weekly bike rides. We've gone biking a few Sundays in a row now. Ryan and Ian both seem to love it!

We've been a little disappointed that there aren't as many turtles in the gulley to feed as there have been in past years. Maybe there will be more as spring progresses ...

Ryan loves pushing and walking behind objects (like this table). Ian will start chanting something like, "I'm pretending you to walk" (whatever THAT means!) and Ryan will just giggle and giggle as he makes his way toward Ian.

Ian was excited to go to his friend Caleb B's 5th birthday party. Our dear friend, Kati (Caleb's Mom) did an amazingly creative job thinking of activities for the kids. Here they're all digging for bones in the sandbox.

Here, they're going on a dinosaur hunt with their "binoculars."

Ryan has been very interested in kitchen pots and pans lately.  They make LOTS of noise! :)

After reading my sister's blog and seeing her good idea of giving her boys snow to explore, I figure I'd do the next best, Texas-ified thing ... giving Ryan ice to play with. He thought ice was fantastic and loved touching, tasting, moving, and banging it.

Everett loves pots and pans too! He uses Henry's play stove more than Henry does, and has taken over use of our pasta pot!

I LOVE Ryan's expression in the bike carrier! Fun family memories!
