Ian's Preschool Christmas

Ian participated in his first school "program" right before Christmas! Trinity's Early Childhood Center presents a Christmas program each year. Ian willingly got all dressed up in his holiday red. Of course, we had to pause on the way into the church to take a picture. :)
We walked Ian to the pew where his class sat together. Doesn't he look all grown up?!?

Ian's class sang a song about angels -- "My Father's Angels." Three of the students from his class couldn't come, but the ones who did looked absolutely adorable! They sang their little hearts out!

front row: Brea, Julia, Colin
Ian was very focused during his class's poem recitation and song. :) I wish that I could get our camera's video of Ian's class singing to download to the blog. Not sure what the problem is ... perhaps it is too big of a file!

At the end of the program, ALL of the kids (2 years old through kindergarten) gathered to sing a few whole-group songs.
As expected, everyone was a little tired by that point. Ha ha!
What a handsome little fellow! We were so proud of Ian and his classmates. It was a beautiful program!
Right before Christmas break, Ian's class had a Christmas party in their room. Since I'm the room mom, I coordinated the games, activities, and food. Thankfully, the other parents are SUPER helpful! Mrs. Miller had the children begin by singing a few Christmas carols for all of us.
Here's a video clip of the poem their class recited and part of the first song until Ryan didn't like being held ... Ha ha!

Most of the songs and poems had actions with them. :)
The next activity was making photo ornaments (from Oriental Trading Company kits). They turned out really cute!

I don't have pictures of the other activities that I led. One of the biggest hits was "Guess Who's Hiding Under the Box." I found an idea on line that suggested one student hide in the hallway while another student hides underneath a wrapped box. The student in the hallway has to determine which classmate is under the box upon returning to the classroom. They LOVED this.

We played Christmas Bingo. Our final game was "Santa's Sleigh." It was sort of like Musical Chairs. The "sleigh driver" had to select four friends to follow him/her. When the driver dropped the jingle bells, students had to race to find a seat. The last one standing was the next sleigh driver. Since all of the kids really WANTED to be sleigh driver, though, no one was really hurrying to sit down. We had to quickly change the rules to make it the SECOND person to find a new seat would be the driver. Funny!

After we ate lunch, the students exchanged gifts with each other.
Ian drew his number, found his gift,
and was VERY excited to find that it was a monster truck!

What fun ways to celebrate Jesus' birthday!
Being silly! :)
