The last post described all of the fun celebrations we had in Albuquerque. Most of the time, though, was just plain' ol', wonderful family time. Since we all live far apart from each other, we revel in the relaxing, laughing, talking, and playing we can do during our "down time" together. As expected, with 4 toddlers around the age of 1.5, there was never a dull moment!
Here are some of our nothing-special, special times! :)
The Playground
Grammy and Papa live right next to a school ... which means there's a GREAT playground within walking distance! We went here many times.

our precious, beautiful niece, Abby |
Ian loved the "spider web" |
One of the best parts of the playground was the DIRT! |
I LOVE this precious, adorable picture of our nephew, Cody! (Great pic, Sarah!) |
Ian, Cody, and Jaden RUNNING to the playground! |
This was Ryan and Abby's favorite spot ... a ramp they could RUN up and RUN down! |
Papa and Abby enjoyed the slide! |
digging lesson by Aunt Amy :) |
Reading Together
One of my favorite parts of family vacations is seeing my family loving on my kids. :) Here are some adorable "cuddle times" we witnessed ...
Being Active
Papa and Grammy's backyard also provided plenty of opportunities for fun ...
... like FOOTBALL!
TACKLE! |
...throwing toddlers up in the air!
...playing soccer!
...and playing with cars outside!
Just Playing
With cooler temperatures than what these thin-blooded Texans are used to, we spent quite a bit of playtime inside as well. Grammy got our beloved cardboard box house (from when Amy, Andrew, and I were kiddos) out of the garage. It was so fun watching our kids play in there!
The marble roller made by Great-Grandpa Sylvester was one of the kids' favorite toys!
Another favorite was Trigger -- another toy made by Great-Grandpa Sylvester! |
Ring Around the Rosy |
chewing on cars/playing with the car mat |
Aunt Amy purchased quite a few cars on Ian's used car lot |
craziness with Uncle Andrew |
Ryan (and Cody??) enjoyed emptying Grammy and Papa's remote control drawer! |
playing Greed, the dice game. Ian was SUPER lucky! |
Just hangin' out! |
playing a few tunes |
a babies-only meal |
watching cartoons with Uncle Jason (How did he get stuck watching all of them at the same time? Ha!) |
playing Cranium Hullabaloo |
playing a cute toddler game :) |
Ian and Grammy loved playing Aunt Sarah's Spot It game |
Ryan told Papa all about his beloved dump truck |
Abby and Aunt Sarah teach Ryan the ins and outs of doll houses ;) |
Ryan loved Trigger, too, and got increasingly more brave in the way that he rode the horse (though never as dangerously as his cousins Cody or Abby ... ha!) |
Grammy had the great idea to make a cardboard box into a train tunnel. |
Everyone was impressed! :) |
building with Legos |
Dot Painters! |
The little ones loved tackling Big Cousin/Brother Ian. Ian didn't seem to mind at all. |
Making a "Ryan roll" |
The Park
A few blocks away from Papa and Grammy's house is a city park. The TX Schleichers, along with Abby and Grammy, braved the chilly weather to take a walk one morning. We ended up at the park, where we enjoyed ...
...swinging,
a pendulum-type contraption,
more swinging,
sliding,
and building a nest out of pine needles.
On the way back to Grammy and Papa's house, Ian was excited to test out the ice! We don't see that much around here. :)
Sometimes the unplanned, every day moments are the best ones! :)

COUSIN time!
