Happy May!

Our almost three-year-old is now riding forward-facing in the car! We wanted to keep him rear-facing as long as possible since that's the safest, but he was starting to get a little too tall to be backward. He LOVES facing the front. We get a constant running commentary while in the car on all of the things that he can see! And, now that Ian is facing forward, maybe he can provide some entertainment to baby brother or sister in a few months. :)
My friend, Aliceson, made Ian a "car cozy" for his 2nd birthday, and he has used it SO often since then (especially as a quiet church toy). When our godson, Elijah, turned two last month, I knew just what to make him. Here's how it turned out! And here are the directions if you want more info:  Car Cozy

A few days ago, we decided to give our oh-so-dirty car a bath. Ian thought it was SO much fun. He loved using the hose and "scrubbing" all of the dirt off!
What a helper!
Ian made some presents for some special ladies in his life for a holiday coming up very soon! First, he cut tissue paper into tiny squares.

Then, he placed the squares onto all the sticky parts of a piece of clear Contact paper.
When he was done covering the whole surface, Kim placed another piece of clear contact paper over the top.

Then Kim cut it into cross shapes ...

... to make pretty cross suncatchers! (Do you see the beautiful Easter lilies blooming in our backyard???) Way to go, Ian!
Kim has now reached week 38 of pregnancy and is starting to have a little more discomfort (some painful contractions, sciatic nerve pain) in addition to a little trouble finding shirts that cover her whole belly. (She's had to bust out the Bella Band again! ha ha) Overall, though, Kim has still been able to stay relatively active, for which we are very thankful. We have an induction scheduled for May 10th if the baby hasn't come out on his or her own before that. At yesterday's appointment the doctor said Kim is already dilated to a 3 or 4 and that he expects the baby to come very quickly! Yay! Please continue to keep us in your prayers, and we'll keep you posted! :)

Hi Kim! I hope you are doing well and aren't too exhausted and uncomfortable. That's great that you're already dilated 3 or 4, maybe the delivery will be really quick. :) I also wanted to say about the induction, from what I've heard, usually second inductions go really well if the first induction also went well. That was the case for me - it was much quicker and easier and went so smoothly. I pray that will be the case for you, too. Enjoy your last few days with only Ian!

Okay, I'm such a car seat nerd and it is SO refreshing to see someone else taking it seriously! Great job. Natalie rear faced until 2.5 when she outgrew her seat by weight. It only rfed to 35 lbs. Not many seats had high rfing limits when she was little, unless they were upwards of $300. I'm so glad that has changed that! My nephew is rf in the seat that Ian has.

One piece of advice, for what it's worth: if you have room for a car seat in your middle seat, you should put your "least secure child." In this case, it will be Ian, your ffing child. Not only will he be a bit safer in the center, but he will be able to entertain your new little one even more!
