The Beach

One Saturday last month, we headed to Galveston with some friends. Ian had been asking us for WEEKS when we could go to the beach next, so we figured we'd better get a date on the calendar ... and, with friends would be even better!

It was a little breezy and cool, especially right on the water. But God gave us a sunny day, and we were happy to be outside! We started our trip with a ride on the Bolivar ferry.
Ian is likely pointing to a seagull here, but we did actually see a fair number of porpoises as well.

Our friends' daughter, Mackenzie, is such a little sweetheart. She and Ryan will be in the same class someday, though Mackenzie is seven or so months older.

After we rode on the ferry, we headed to Stewart Beach. Our friends knew a great place on the beach to settle in! Ryan didn't need much time to warm up to the sand! He loved touching it, digging in it, and even eating it! He also thought it was VERY fun when our friend Martha dug a hole and put water in it. He splashed in the muddy water like crazy!

Ryan didn't seem to mind getting his toes in the chilly water either.
We were actually a little surprised at how much Ian enjoyed the beach, too. Ian definitely has Kim's body thermostat (translation: gets cold VERY easily), and he was shivering during much of his time in the water. Not once did he complain, though, or ask to get out of the water. He loved every minute of splashing in the ocean and digging in the sand!

We enjoyed eating lunch together with our friends (Martha, Mackenzie, Zane, Tanya, and Zach).

While on the beach, Ian got to fly a kite for the first time. The wind was perfect -- though Matt did have to run after the escaped kite once! :)
Before heading home, we had the kiddos pose for some pics together.

What a fun day at the beach! :)
