Colorado Springs: Day 4

Day #4 was one of our favorites! Aunt Sarah entertained the kiddos first thing in the morning with various tricks she brought from Arizona ... including some homemade playdough and moon dough. The kids really seemed to like it, especially when they got to incorporate vehicles into their play!

Our outing for the day was to go to the "North Pole," a small amusement park outside of Colorado Springs. Amy, Andrew, and I had great memories of going to this park when we were kids. We weren't sure if our kiddos were the right age to enjoy it yet or not ... but they DEFINITELY were. It was so much fun watching THEM have fun! They were tall enough to ride almost all of the rides ... and they loved most of them, too!
The carousel was likely the TX Schleicher boys' favorite ride. I'm pretty sure we may have ridden the carousel about six times -- a few times right in a row and then a few more times later on in the day. Ian and Ryan loved riding on the various (named) reindeer on the carousel. The other kiddos seemed to enjoy the carousel quite a bit, too.

Then, we made our way throughout the park, letting the kids point out the rides that looked especially fun to them.

On most of the rides, the adults went along.

Kim's favorite ride was the ferris wheel. There were some amazing views from way up high. We noticed a sign at the end saying that this was the world's highest ferris wheel -- mainly because the elevation is SO high here!

The kiddos had the chance to feed the deer/reindeer some deer feed. Ian even convinced the deer to eat out of his hand.

On some of the rides, the adults didn't come at all. We  just enjoyed watching the kiddos from the sidelines.

All the kids really seemed to like the train ride as well!

One of the kids' favorite parts about this ride was the bells on each cart that they could jingle throughout the ride.

Before lunch, we headed to a magic show. Ian absolutely loved it and was amazed at the magician's tricks. Ryan wasn't too interested.
After we stopped for lunch, Matt and Uncle Andrew gave our piggyback rides to more rides.

While some of the adults stood in line to ride the zip line ride, others rode rides like the Space Shuttle along with the kids. Ian loved it, and the 2-year-olds liked it at the beginning ... but were crying by the end.

Ian was tall enough that he could ride the zip line ride! This was Matt's favorite ride. Most of the other adults called it their favorite ride as well.

While Andrew, Sarah, Matt, Ian, Grammy, Papa, and Abby were in line, the rest of us explored a different part of the park. The boys enjoyed riding all of the types of vehicles.

When the zip line riders were done, we went on the cars. The kids thought it was so fun that they could "steer."

Amy, Jason, and their boys started heading toward home after the car ride, but some of us headed to the long candy cane slide. Ian rode all by himself; Abby rode with her daddy; and Ryan rode with his daddy.

Sarah got some great pictures of the kids actually sliding down.  If you make the picture below bigger, you'll see Ian's head coming around the first bend.

Here, Ryan and Matt head around the first bend.

Then, Abby, Sarah, Andrew, and Papa headed home with Jason, Amy, Jaden, and Cody. We TX Schleichers and Grammy stayed even longer since our boys were still enjoying it. We tried out the tram, boats (again), roller coaster, teacups, and carousel (again ... no big surprise) before we headed home.

Check out Ryan's face. He did NOT like the roller coaster once it started moving! Ian, on the other hand, thought it was fantastic!

After dinner time, we celebrated Amy's early birthday with some of Drew's specialty dessert -- chocolate souffle! Yummy! :)

All in all, a simply wonderful day!

I wish we would've stayed for the big candy cane slide. It looked fun! Though at that point, it's quite likely J&C would've fallen asleep on the way down!
