Ian's birthday and party planning

Ian turned SIX on May 7. The night before, Daddy and Grandpa lovingly worked hard to get one of Ian's birthday gifts -- a new basketball hoop -- all set up.
On the morning of Ian's birthday, he had asked for breakfast in bed -- "a doughnut with a candle, toast with jelly, and raspberries!" He remembered that we had done this for him when he turned five, and thought it was so much fun!
Ian requested pizza for his birthday dinner with family. (No surprise there!) :)
We had brownies and ice cream for dessert.
Ian got in a little bit of playing time with his new basketball hoop, and former basketball start Grandpa was able to give him some pointers.

Ian requested a Mad Science party with his friends this year. It was such a fun theme! Lots and lots of people helped us get ready for the special party.

Grandma and Chelsea gathered supplies for the kids to use in their static electricity experiment.

Daddy brought home some tables from his school, which a whole group of people helped to unload. (Thanks, Grandpa, Jaden, Cody, and Ryan.)
An added benefit of helping to unload the tables was a short drive around the neighborhood in the CLHS "bus" that had transported the tables to our house. The boys thought this was the coolest thing ever.
Grammy helped get the icing for the cake just the right color,
while Uncle Jason and Daddy helped to do some of the cooking.

Aunt Amy was in charge of creating signs and fun decorations.

Grammy and Uncle Jason helped to cut some of them out.

Grammy and Momma worked hard to decorate the cake with candy and icing. It turned out so cute!

Thanks, everyone, for all of your help!! The party was a blast! More details to come ... :)

What a fun theme! I can't wait to hear about some of the experiments that you did. I bet my kids would love to do them but I'm not sure they would come up the theme for the party themselves. Need to start working on planting this idea in their heads already :)

Yeah, this is truly a fun birthday party theme. Well guys, I have also been thinking to organize a big party in coming year. I have never hired any event planner for my events but this time I want to have unique decorations. Please suggest some planners that can help me in finding most affordable outdoor San Francisco venues too!!
